An engineering graduate from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Kristie specializes in making technical topics clear and understandable for students of all ability levels. As an honor roll student throughout her own academic career, she credits that success to teachers who went the extra mile to make lessons engaging, relatable, and crystal clear, and makes it a priority to give her own STEM students that same experience and confidence.
AutoCAD is the industry-standard software behind the drawings architects, engineers, interior designers, and manufacturers rely on every day — and knowing it opens doors across a wide range of careers. AutoCAD: Beginner Level is a four-session, hands-on introduction for adults who are new to CAD. You'll learn to navigate the AutoCAD workspace and set up a drawing, create and edit lines, circles, and polylines, and draft with precision using coordinates, object snaps, and tracking. From there, you'll organize your work with layers, add text, dimensions, and hatching, and set up layouts to print or export your drawings to PDF. By the end, you'll have the core skills and the confidence to produce clean, accurate 2D drawings on your own.
Navigating the AutoCAD Workspace Get comfortable with the AutoCAD interface, set up new drawings with the right units and settings, and create basic objects like lines, circles, arcs, polylines, and polygons.
Editing and Drafting with Precision Reshape your work with move, copy, rotate, offset, trim, extend, fillet, and chamfer, and draft accurately using coordinate entry, object snaps, and ortho and polar tracking.
Layers, Text, and Dimensions Organize drawings with layers and control object properties, then annotate your work with text, dimensions, and hatching so it communicates clearly.
Plotting Clean, Shareable Drawings Set up layouts and viewports, plot or export to PDF, and build habits that keep your files clean, accurate, and easy to share.
