Unlock your child's creativity in all three dimensions with Clay Creations, a class that blends spatial thinking, hand-eye coordination, and interactivity with lots of just plain fun. With Play-Doh, some basic household art supplies, creativity, and guidance, young artists will learn sculpting ideas and techniques, work on guided projects to elevate their abilities, and expand their skills and possibilities with clay and putty.
Week 1: Fun Food Creations Students will start by exploring the basic building blocks of clay work — rolling balls, making coils, and flattening slabs — then use those shapes to sculpt their favorite foods. Pizza, sushi, cupcakes, fruit — anything's on the menu!
Week 2: Under the Sea We'll use the ocean as our inspiration, and students will build sea creatures and plants in three dimensions, or press them onto a flat slab to create a relief scene. Whether it's a fish, octopus, coral, starfish, or something else, the ocean has plenty to work with.
Week 3: Face to Face Students will sculpt a simple portrait head — adding features and bringing a face to life. It could be themselves, someone they know, or a character entirely of their own invention. We'll also explore making simple figures.
Week 4: Creature Feature Real animals or completely made-up ones — anything goes. This week students bring any creature they can imagine to life in clay, getting as wild and creative as they want.
