Building Blocks of 5th Grade Math is the year-round class where driven students go deeper than the test required, building the kind of genuine mastery that pays off in every math course that follows. Number Sense and Decimal Mastery

One of the most consequential skill clusters in 5th grade math is understanding how numbers scale — and how that scaling connects to decimals. Students in this course work extensively with place value relationships in multi-digit numbers and sharpen their ability to multiply and divide by powers of ten, tracking exactly how decimal points shift with each operation. They also tackle decimal operations head-on: comparing and ordering decimals, computing with them using both visual models and standard algorithms, and solving word problems that put decimals in context — money, measurement, and beyond.
