Whether you left school years ago or just need to close a few gaps, earning your GED can open the door to better jobs, college and training programs. That's why this small-group class takes the four GED subjects one at a time, from Reasoning Through Language Arts and Math to Science and Social Studies, with an instructor who breaks down tricky questions and math problems step by step. You'll learn alongside other adults with the same goal and finish with a test-day plan for all four subjects. Built for adults who want a clear path to their GED.
Session 1: Reasoning Through Language Arts: Reading Comprehension Find central ideas and author's purpose, analyze how arguments are built, interpret words in context, and compare texts and data the way the RLA test asks.
Session 2: Reasoning Through Language Arts: Grammar and the Extended Response Fix the agreement, punctuation, and sentence-structure errors the test targets, and plan a clear, evidence-based essay that analyzes the arguments in two sources.
Session 3: Mathematical Reasoning: Quantitative Problem Solving Work with number sense, ratios, percents, and data displays, plus the geometry, statistics, and probability questions that show up most, using the on-screen calculator and formula sheet.
Session 4: Mathematical Reasoning: Algebraic Problem Solving Write and solve linear equations, systems, and quadratics, work with functions and graphs, and turn word problems into equations step by step.
Session 5: Science Read scientific texts, charts, and experiments with confidence, and review the key ideas from life science, physical science, and earth and space science.
Session 6: Social Studies and Test-Day Review Analyze historical documents, civics and government questions, and economics and geography data, then finish with a test-day game plan for all four subjects.
