An A For Effort by abbie - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

One of my proudest accomplishments as a student is getting the grade that I worked hard for. I take great pride in the fact that I am a high school senior and have kept honor roll in school my entire life. Not only because I got the award but mostly because I put a enormous amount of time and effort into my work at school and I EARNED those grades. I did not skate by and do the minimum amount of work possible.
All my life I've thrown myself into my classes to make sure I understood the material and get the best grade possible. While my other friends and classmates were going out and having fun, I was usually at home studying or doing homework or something that I knew would help me progress in school. While it is slightly upsetting at the time, I know that it is 100 percent worth it when I see my report card with only A's and B's at the end of each quarter.
When the entire class is silent during a lecture and I feel embarrassed to ask questions. I try to remind myself that it is vital to understanding the material and getting an A on the test. I knew that it was important to put my grades and education above my want to fit in with my peers. Having friends wont get me good grades.
In the end when I see my final grades, it feels amazing to know that all my hard work paid off in the form of honor roll, college acceptance, and hopefully college acceptance letters.
