Share the Warmth by Abdul - January 2017 Scholarship Essay

During mid-December, I had a great opportunity to take part in an effort to distribute 100 winter kits to the homeless in Mankato Minnesota. As we all know, it can be brutally cold in Minnesota during the winter so I was happy to share the warmth with our community.

This opportunity inspired me to make a difference in my community. I am happy knowing that we made that possible many individuals and families will have clothes to keep them warm in this winter. I feel blessed to have a home in which I can sleep in warmly and comfortably and that inspires me to help my community and share the warmth.

The organization that made this event happen is called the Pious Projects of America. With their help and other 20 volunteers, we raised money to buy the winter clothes. I was grateful to have the opportunity to lead the team of volunteers. We all felt happy and inspired to take part in the effort that we've asked the organization to make this annual event and they happily agreed.

We have agreed to make it happen every year. I look forward to sharing the warmth with our community every year.
