A future for education. by Alejandro - September 2025 Scholarship Essay

As a current high school senior myself, and the son of a current elementary school educator, I have many hopes for the future of education in 10 years, hopefully with positive changes, mainly due to the fact that of how so many of my teachers, and my own mother, are overworked in the schools and how it limits their ability to reach their full potential as educators in regards to teaching, which I have seen with many of my own teachers, especially if they have to stay up until 1 am grading papers. So one of the first changes I hope to see in the next ten years is to first stop thinking of teachers as simply as workers at a job, meant to teach whatever the school curriculum is, but instead as people who are actually meant to support the students through their help and to set them up for success. All of which can be achieved by increasing funding for more public schools, and hiring more staff support. Through helping our own teachers with their work, the job for students becomes much easier, as many students currently have to sit through simply a lesson by slides or power point. More interactive assignments and group projects could make the learning experience more informative, and appealing to students, especially those still in elementary school. School should not be a place where people dread to go to, as do many students, but instead as a place where people can feel lucky to be able to learn, and interact with other people of their same age, all of which can prepare students for their future, while benefiting the very same teachers that educate them.
