Wisdom by Alia - December 2014 Scholarship Essay

As an ambitious, wide-eyed senior looking forward to going to university, I have big dreams for my future. I think that the most important part of going to university is getting a broad education that will help me develop my overall personality and make me a more attentive and thoughtful human being. Getting that extra financial aid from a scholarship will assist me in getting that broad education which will in turn help me see things from different perspectives. Thanks to my high school education, I can empathize with people from around the world, discover different cultures and traditions, and meet original and peculiar characters. What I plan to major in is film since movies are my passion and would be very happy to take part in their conception. My education will be useful in order to contemplate the hardships and mysteries of life in the films that I want to create. I intend to use my scholarships to pay for university, which will help me pursue my dream career as well as take the classes and seminars that point me in the right direction.

This scholarship could help me obtain a good and broad education at a prestigious university. I would like to be able to study in a school were the student is taught as a whole, without emphasizing one subject over another. I have been exposed to various amounts of discipline, which, in turn, have me more knowledgeable in a vast amount of subjects. My education has made me a well-rounded person, versus someone that’s an expert in one topic. I think knowledge is the most powerful tool and that’s what I would like to cultivate.
