What Education Means by Alivia - October 2022 Scholarship Essay

Education in Webster's dictionary is “the act or process of teaching or of being taught the education of students.” I think Webster's dictionary has a good definition of the basis of what education means, but there are very few details of what education truly means. Which I believe is different for each individual. Personally, education is about helping others who don't know what you have learned, helping to grow the community you are in, and learning things yourself to help advance as an individual.
When someone talks about education I think about teachers and schools. You have multiple individuals coming together to help the youth learn and grow. Young minds are being formed into intelligent adults. Teachers and administrators are there for the students to know the problem, helping them grow intellectually and showing them different sides of every story or issue so they can have their own opinions. to be good citizens and help their community.
Education is about the young minds of your community and how they behave. Teachers are there to help the students to become good community members. Teachers and administrators can bring out the good in each student and help show them how to help their community. Having schools give volunteer options for age and grade that anyone can help with is an example of helping students become a good community and help their community. Which can teach them that even as they grow they can always do something to better the people around them and themselves.
Education is not just about teaching others it's about taking your education into your own hands. If you want to learn and grow then educating yourself is easy. Always make sure you are researching things that are interesting to you. To help grow your knowledge about the things you want to do and achieve, such as wanting to be a mechanic. School can be a big part of helping you with your education, but if you don't study and research on your own and experience different versions of trial and error, learning about something may be more difficult and you may not completely realize something about whatever you are trying to learn. Helping to teach yourself is a good thing; it helps you take the initiative in what you are doing.
Education will be different for everyone, but to me, it is all about your community, your self acts, and how you influence others.
