A teacher who has had a significant impact on my education journey would be my agriculture teacher, Mr. Liles. I have been surrounded by agriculture my whole life and once I got into high school and had the opportunity to take FFA, I knew I would be very involved in the FFA. During my first years in FFA I didn’t know all the opportunities I had but as the years went Mr. Liles pushed me to try new things and opened my eyes to all the different opportunities there are. My sophomore year was the year I started to get more involved. Mr. Liles told me about the different events and contests and what he thought would be best for me to do. This has pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and to try new things.
Mr. Liles knows that I am a quiet person and overall pretty shy, but he has continued to push me to try new things. This has not only opened me up to new experiences in FFA but has also helped me in school. Trying new things has helped me become less shy and with that, I have taken classes that I would not have pictured myself doing. Taking higher classes and pushing myself like Mr. Liles did, has made me become a better person in my academics and overall. Participating in FFA and having Mr. Liles as my teacher has made me want to pursue a future career in agriculture. Teachers make a huge impact on students' lives and having Mr. Liles as my agriculture teacher has made me a better person and helped me decide what I want to do after I graduate.
