A letter to me from the future me by Andrea - April 2021 Scholarship Essay

Dear me,

I know right now we're just getting use to our new reality. Things are hard, you're still hurt but if there's one thing that I promise is that it will get better, eventually. The next few years will be hard for you. A lot of ups and downs will come but you'll be okay. You'll have to face a lot of broken promises, mainly from dad and mom, but that's okay too because I know how determined you are with your dreams, surprisingly much more determined than I am right now, 5 years later.

One piece of advice I can give you is to go for it, right then and there, just do it even if mom and dad tell you they won't support your dreams, you do it. Because if you don't, you'll be me right now and trust me when I say I regret it a lot. It's hard thinking about all the things that have happened after, it really brings tears to me eyes, but it's doesn't get easier. I won't say I've wasted my time, all the time I've invested here has been great and it has taught me a lot of things. Mom and dad will be fine, I know they will. It's just time to do you and go for your dreams even if the people who's support you most want won't give it to you, you have you and you'll eventually learn that you are capable of everything and anything you set your mind to and you'll be proud of yourself for that.

This is your time to shine because if you don't do it right now you'll be me 5 years later, taking that same opportunity 5 year too late. Don't forget self love and self care is very importante. You could do this! I'm rooting for you from the future.

Lots of love,
Andrea.
