MY PLANS by Aniyah - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

I am currently volunteering as a Social Media Specialist at Miracle Temple Ministries located in Raleigh, NC for five years. This role helps to organize the material that is being relayed to church members near and far. I create and set-up the Facebook LIVE STREAM service to assist the church with online church members and other people becoming close with Jesus Christ from other countries (i.e. Africa). I am also working with the media equipment (i.e. cameras, projectors, and microphones). I ensure the audio is sufficient for our Pastor and First Lady to present over the podium the Word of the Lord.
For personal growth, over the five years as a social media specialist, I have grown to love journalism and media, and this has inspired me to move into college majoring in Journalism Mass Communications (Public Relations) to grow my knowledge in media. I will be able to engage and network within my career arena and obtain the higher-level knowledge needed to pursue my career goal.
I am helping by assisting my Pastor of our church to deliver a positive Word from the Lord through media. The media assists with delivering the message worldwide. This also helped me with organizing my thoughts on being heavily involved with media as a career.

I create flyers for the church to spread the Word of the Lord to others within the church through media engagement. Videos (via commercials) and slide presentations when there are special events for the church.
Challenges with media that I have faced is when the computer freezes up and we have had situations where this is during the service time, when the Pastor is delivering his message to the church congregation. When this occurs the Media team works closely together to resolve the issue that has caused an issue. Another challenge is when there is a presentation to be done, and the presenters send the material last minute and this causes rush to upload to the agenda for the service. For these cases, we all worked together to resolve the issue, and teamwork is crucial in media.

Each person has a role, and he/she is responsible for that task, so when the task is failing, we all chip in to assist each other. That is the Christian way and we practice ONE TEAM ONE FIGHT!
