Learning is a gift, one that is necessary for survival. Humans need to learn in order to know how to live, behave, and handle both familiar and unfamiliar circumstances. Education provides humans with a substantial portion of this learning. The education system prepares people for adulthood by equipping them with knowledge and teaching them problem solving skills. In my life, education has played a significant role, and it has contributed to my character. Education has impacted me by maturing me, opening my mind to the world around me, and preparing me to face adversity.

Handling the myriad of tasks and responsibilities of school has pushed me to become a mature person. Education is paired with ample work and effort, especially during high school and college. When I was a freshman, I quickly discovered that succeeding in high school would be much more difficult than passing elementary or middle school. As I was bombarded with volumes of homework, projects, and tests, I made the realization that I needed to develop an efficient work ethic and put forth even more effort in order to succeed in the future. Retaining copious amounts of knowledge and applying it to these numerous tasks has led me to become more responsible and disciplined.

Throughout my educational experience, I have become aware of the world, its inhabitants, and its operations. Social studies classes have taught me about the multifarious peoples and cultures that coexist in this world, the mechanisms that comprise various systems of government and economics, and how people have made and learned from mistakes in the past. Science classes have taught me how the systems of the ecosystem, substances, and life itself operate and how to put them to good use and improve upon them. Other classes have taught me about the innovation and art that humanity has brought forth time and time again. Learning about all of these subjects has given me the motivation to contribute my gifts to humanity.

The trials of education and schooling have equipped me for overcoming obstacles in the real world. Handling work and stress is no simple task; education revealed this to me during my high school career. The plethora of projects, tests, and deadlines that accompany education have required me to build problem solving skills and learn how to manage stress. Through education, I have learned how to manage my time, handle stress, and prepare for important and challenging events. All of these skills are necessary for survival in the world outside of school.

Education is a valuable tool and a major influence in my life. Not only has it given me useful academic knowledge, but it has also given me useful skills that will help me to be successful in life. My education has shaped my character, motivation, and discipline; it has also revealed aspects of myself of which I was not previously aware. As I acquired more knowledge and learned about more subjects, I discovered my passion for science. I will use the knowledge and skills that I have attained through education to pursue my passion and my future career.
