Academic Resolution by April - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

In 2021, I want to go above and beyond with my personal out of school learning. A big goal of mine for a while has been to learn different languages. The first one is American Sign Language, or ASL. As a prospective teacher, learning this language would allow me to easily communicate with a wider range of students. For this reason, I am also going to invest my time in learning Spanish. As someone who lives in the United States, English, Spanish, and American Sign Language are all very common languages, and being able to make communication easier for a student by speaking their language would be extremely beneficial for that child.
I also plan on branching out and exploring new topics I have never experienced but am interested in. This will allow me to have a base understanding of many different topics and to find what major in interested in and fits me the best. I feel like finding something I am really passionate about will make me a better teacher and allow me to enjoy my job for a long time. Being interested in and having a good understanding of what I am teaching is very important to me.
