What Success Means To Me by Ashley - February 2021 Scholarship Essay

I define success as a goal that is within reach to anyone and is accomplished through hard work. Success will not just show up at your front door, it is something you have to work for and continue to work for day in and day out.
Success in college to me means doing all I can to achieve a dream. My current dream is to graduate from Texas Tech University with a degree in Elementary Education. I will know I have succeeded once I have achieved this and I am teaching in a classroom, or online, and inspiring children to want to learn and go after their dreams.
I want my successes to inspire others to go after what they want and to work hard no matter what. I think it is important to have successful people to look up to and to aspire to be, especially if we want to have a chance of doing something in our lifetime for others.
Success in college also means to me, breaking up my big goal into smaller goals to which I can achieve faster. I have struggled with anxiety throughout high school and have spent the last couple of years finding ways to help myself achieve my overwhelming dreams without panicking, breaking things down has been one of those ways. I find success in college to be a new beginning for me to make new promises to myself and try new things to achieve my dreams.
