Impact on my educational journey by Autymn - January 2025 Scholarship Essay

I have a mentor in my life who has always been there to help guide me. I started bringing up going back to school and discussing it with her. Her name is Shelly. She has seen me at my worst moments in life and now she is still here to walk through this new journey with me. She is a dedicated therapist to many, but more than that she is a dedicated friend. I have always wanted to make something of myself but was always scared to move forward with it. Being able to sit down and discuss my fears and concern with her has helped me realize I was putting more fear in myself from making the decision to go for it. To have Shelly there with me, to listen but also help give me advice has been a big part of my motivation. Through all the ups and downs she has always been able to educate me in areas of my life that I needed. I want to be able to do that for others. Once I applied to go back to school, Shelly sat down with me, we looked at all the curriculum and she walked through each and every class so I would have a better understanding. Having Shelly in my life, I believe I will be able to get through school and become who I am destined to be.
