Live Life To by Bailey - February 2014 Scholarship Essay
When I was 13 years old, I received news that changed my life. On September 20, 2009, my very close family friend, Brycen Blackburn, had been in a tragic car crash and passed away. I had known him for 10 years and our families are very close. He was like a big brother to me. He had just graduated from high school 3 months before the accident. He had written a senior quote that he used in his high school yearbook that said, "No guarantee of tomorrow. How long are you gonna live your life letting moments pass you by?" This quote was also mentioned at his funeral and it has stuck with me ever since.
This quote has had a huge impact on me in the past four years. It has influenced me to live my life to the fullest and follow me dreams. I have taken every opportunity that I have had to live my life to the fullest and not let moments pass me by. I plan to so those things in the future too. I want to go skydiving. I want to swim with sharks. I want to travel the world and experience new adventures! I also want to fulfill my dreams of going to college and eventually become a surgeon. There is no guarantee of tomorrow so I have to live my life while I can. I have done my best in high school and tired my hardest in the past four year and now I've been accepted to four colleges. I'm living my life to the fullest and using every opportunity I get to make my life one that is worth living.
the second way that this quote has inspired me is by making me realize that u shouldn't take things for granted. I have come to appreciate my friends and family even more than I did. You never know what day is going to be your last so I have learned to reject appreciate all that I have been blessed with. my friends and family who love me; a job that I love; food, water, a house, and clothes are just a few of my many things that I have been blessed with. Life is something that I consider to be precious and I don't want to waste my time holding grudges or being around negative people. I want to be sprouts people who make me happy and who I truely enjoy being around. I cherish all my many blessings and everyday that I am given.
This quote has influenced me a lot over the past four years. I find myself always repeating it in my head especially during hard and difficult times. Brycen didn't let moments pass him by. He chose to live his life to the fullest and I plan to do the same. The fact that this quote has been written by someone so close to my heart makes it even more special and influential to me. So how long are you gonna live your life letting moments pass you by?
