The Farmhouse in the Rocky Mountains by Berenice - June 2023 Scholarship Essay

With a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains, lays a modest size farmhouse cared for with love. The wildflowers sway due to the light breeze that passes through the area and the reflection of the mountains is shown in the nearby lake. The setting sun showers the entire scene with a golden yellow. The air is filled with the scents of the nearby pine trees, a mixture of lavender, lilies, columbine, and lupine. The peaks of the mountains seem so close yet far away at the same time. The scene alone is enough to take anyone’s breath away. The birds are singing their lullabies as the moon settles in.The baby blue farmhouse with a pitch black roof has its top barn windows open to let the refreshing night air in. On the porch of the quaint farmhouse, you see a woman on a rocking chair reading a book and taking in the breathtaking view. That woman is me.
By that time, I see myself being financially independent. I am able to take care of myself, my family, and friends. I will have a restaurant that I would have started with my dad. I will be able to give back to my communities in ways that I’ve dreamed of as a kid. I will be a good role model for kids and do my best to give opportunities to them that I know are missing. Having a beautiful farmhouse, owning a restaurant, being financially independent, and giving back to my community are all of the things that I see myself doing in 10 years.
Ever since I was young, nature has been a part of my life. I thank my parents for that, they would always drag me to different state and national parks. Not only was I introduced to nature from a young age, but ever since I was a little kid, my dad has owned a restaurant. At five years old, I would be on a chair in his office and he would be talking to me about all the different skills he has learned about running a business. He would always encourage me about pursuing entrepreneurship and doing a career that has something to do with business. Education has always been encouraged in my household, and I have always known that I would pursue something in business.
As I have gotten older, I decided that I wanted to have a more technical outlook in the business world. I then decided that I wanted to major in business statistics. Looking at the world through data and looking at correlations is so important if I want to be able to analyze the current and future situation of a business I want to own. It will broaden my horizons to a new world that I have had no clue about. Being able to go to college and pursue this major will allow me to gain new skills to be able to own a business. Owning a business takes a lot of work, trial and error, and determination. I know being able to analyze data of consumers will be a huge help to being successful.
Education is such an important stepping stone to accomplishing my goals. Education allows me to be able to get a new skill set that I previously didn’t have. Being able to go to college opens so many doors that were previously unlocked. I will be able to gain experience with data science due to different internships that I can take throughout my years. Networking is such a huge part as well. Interacting and creating relationships with my professors will be a big part of my education as well. I know being able to create those relationships will be very valuable in my journey. This scholarship will be a huge stepping stone in accomplishing my goals. Being able to pay of my tuition is a very important step to getting to my final destination.
In ten years, I will be that woman living in her baby blue, pitch black roof, farmhouse enjoying the nature surrounding her. I will be a woman who runs a successful restaurant planning to open her second location. I will be a woman who helps and gives back to her community, and education will be the stepping stone that takes me there.
