Education over the last fifty years has shifted from helping kids learn to a grading system of schools and students based on a test . Have you ever had a bad day? Possibly you are a nervous test taker. The school systems now rely so heavily on test that the core value of education is lost, and teaching to pass a test is implemented.

Life is about test. but when stadardized test come into play a hard working student who may be a little high strung could perform at their lowest. A school who works so hard to educate and nourish young minds may fair in comparrison to a school who is educationally based on "how to test".

We have to do better going forward. Standardized test should not disappear but they should not be used as a merrit system for school rankings, funding or college acceptance. Children should not be nausous with anxiety over a test that does not show their intelligence or abilities. The testing is not new the names just have changed over the years and become much more important. Year after year I see bright and excited students struggle or have to take remidiation just to pass a test. This is learning time wasted. The confidence dies each time one of these students do the work and their scores are low. We need to encourage are youth. Test them but don't hold this score to a stead fast marker what their ability is.
