When I think back on my high school years, one academic challenge stands out more than any other. It was during my sophomore year, in my history class, that I faced a difficulty that truly tested my resolve and taught me a lot about myself. I had always been interested in history, but this class was different. It was not just about memorizing dates and events; it required a deeper understanding and analysis of historical contexts and their impacts on the present. This was a new level of critical thinking that I had not encountered before.

The challenge began with our first major assignment, a research paper on the Civil Rights Movement. I was excited about the topic, given my interest in social justice and history, but as I started my research, I quickly realized how overwhelming it was. There was so much information, and I struggled to organize my thoughts and develop a coherent thesis. My initial drafts were unfocused, and I received feedback from my teacher that was both constructive and daunting. She highlighted the lack of a clear argument and suggested I needed to dig deeper into the primary sources.

Feeling overwhelmed, I knew I had to approach this challenge differently. I decided to break down the task into smaller, manageable parts.
