I have always been fascinated by the intricacies of the human body and the healthcare systems that support it. This passion led me to pursue a graduate degree in a healthcare-related field at the University of Bridgeport. However, the journey has not been without its challenges. One particular experience tested my resolve and taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of seeking support.
During my first semester, I enrolled in a course that was notorious for its difficulty. The course was a deep dive into advanced medical sciences, combining complex theoretical concepts with practical applications. I had always prided myself on my academic abilities, maintaining a GPA of 3.83 throughout college, but this course was unlike anything I had encountered before.
The first few weeks were overwhelming. The pace was relentless, and I found myself struggling to keep up with the sheer volume of material. Each lecture introduced new concepts that seemed to build upon a foundation I was not sure I had. Despite spending countless hours reviewing notes and textbooks, I felt as though I was treading water, barely managing to stay afloat.
My initial attempts to overcome this challenge were solitary. I believed that if I just worked harder, I could master the content. I spent long nights in the library, poring over every detail, but my grades did not reflect the effort I was putting in. It was disheartening to see my performance in this course not align with the standards I had set for myself.
