A mentor that has had a significant impact on my education journey just happens to be my mom. Not only does she play a great role in my life at home, but she also is the guidance counselor at my school. This means that we spend a lot of time together.
Throughout high school, my mom has been guiding me throughout my education. Every scholarship, group or club, she has always recommended that I join and participate. This has been very beneficial throughout school and has provided me with endless opportunities. Because of her, I have been a part of groups such as honors society, student council, and Big Brother Big Sister. She is always updating me on important occurrences and upcoming events which is something that no other teacher has done for me.
Other than academics, my mom has greatly impacted my motivation and attitude about school. Some days getting up and heading to high school is not easy, but I always knew that if I needed something, my guidance counselor was there to help. Not just because she is my mom, but because she loves working with students and creating a positive and healthy environment for everyone. My mom being my guidance counselor is something that I would never change. She has had the greatest impact on my education journey.
