NASA-Kennedy Space Center Award by Elijah - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

The accomplishment that I am most proud of thus far in my Collegiate Academic Career is my award for Exploration Research and Technology Recognition from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA for my work in the Field of Applied Purchasing Ecology.
About one week ago I won an Award for my research and design of an application that would help Theme Parks increase their overall sales by 10%. This app was based on tracking guest mobility and interaction throughout theme parks, and based off this data, manipulating the park to help increase sales.
Winning an award from NASA was pretty awesome, but the real reason I am excited about this award is because it was only a stepping stone for what we are planning to do next. Since winning the award I recruited and compiled a team of 6 of the brightest minds that area at my school. We have 3 Programmers and 3 research and development team members. We also have a professor that is on our team who previously worked with Disney helping to track guests Mobility throughout the theme park. We are developing a prototype that will be completed and fully functioning by January 7th. The most exciting thing is that we have a meeting with the General Manager of Legoland on February 16th. We will pitch our idea and hopefully be able to develop and test our application inside Legoland to help increase the park sales.
Winning this award has also given the opportunity to develop my leadership skills as a freshman. Creating this team has given me valuable experience in running and leading a team of students and professionals. To be able to learn how to create and foster a dream, and help build a vision that inspires others to collaborate and accomplish one common goal is an important skill that will continue to be useful throughout my life.
In conclusion, this accomplishment is one that I am the proudest of because it is helping me to me to gain experience and knowledge that can’t be bought. Also, I am excited about this accomplishment because it has real world application. This accomplishment has given us the opportunity to impact and change the entire theme park industry and increase sales along the way.
