My Educational Goals by ELIZABETH - August 2024 Scholarship Essay
Due to the immense support and encouragement from coaches staff and faculty at both my high school and at Wartburg College, I decided that I want to work in the education system. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in Public and Organizational Relations and want to continue my education after obtaining my bachelor's degree. I am currently starting my 3rd year at Wartburg College. I want to become a school psychologist which means I would be assessing children, writing reports, and advocating for students to be able to give them the best opportunities. To be able to achieve that I will go to the University of Northern Iowa and work toward my Master of Arts in Education which is a three-year program and includes an internship. After acquiring my necessary degrees, I will officially be able to become a school psychologist. After working in the K-12 school systems, I want to transition into a professor of Psychology and teach college students. To be able to do that, I will need to go back to school and get my doctorate degree at the University of Iowa in clinical psychology. The reason I want to become a professor is because of the professors here at Wartburg. I want to encourage students, give them resources, and be able to share my passion with the science of psychology to young people who have the ability to be leaders and change the world, that is my ultimate goal.
I am a member of the Wartburg Clay Target Sports Team. Being a student collegiate athlete has taught me how hard work and dedication to a task can make anything happen. I have had to work hard as shooting is an incredibly tough sport participating in several different events including Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays and 5 Stand. Each of the events have different skills needed and mastering them is a never-ending process. Practicing whenever I can, thinking about shooting, dreaming about competing and making myself better not only as an athlete but as a person as a whole. I have learned how to manage my time while being a successful athlete but also working and maintaining over a 3.4 GPA in College, starting the Psychology Club at Warburg and many other activities. I also hope that I can obtain my Coaches endorsement and coach both softball and shooting sports within the schools I work in.
I truly appreciate the opportunity to apply for this scholarship and thank your organization for offering help to college student athletes like me who are putting it all on the line to compete in their sport of choice while attending college to better our futures and the world around us by continuing my education.
