If I Had All of the Time to Change the World by Elizabeth - May 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I had all of the time and money in the world, I would change so much of what was happening in the world. We learn in school everyday that we need to fight to make the world a better place, fight for the change that is needed, but in all actuality, how are we properly able to do that?

I feel like the first thing that I would do is research what is already being done in our world to help others' causes. In school, I have learned that doing background research is the most important part of a project and by definition making a positive impact on the world is a project. Once I have done this research, I would narrow down the groups that I have found into different subsections. Groups that help the environment, groups that make political change, and other groups.

I would personally focus on donating to the groups that help the environment to make sure that we continue to have a world that we can come back to in the future. I would also donate to groups that are trying to make political change, trying to make it so the world is better prepared and suites the need of the whole rather than the need of the few. And with the other groups, I would donate my unlimited time into helping. Going to dog shelters and giving them my time to help them take care of the animals, going to cancer research centers and giving my time to hopefully help them to come up with a cure. I feel like this would be the biggest thing that I can do to give back and make the world a much better place.

If I had all of the time and money in the world, I would use my empathy that I have gained from my school experience to help the people that I see on the side of the street that need my help. I would give time to help tutor kids to make sure that the upcoming generations are given all of the advantages that I can give them to encourage them to also continue to make the world a better place. So, overall, I would use my time and money to get the ball rolling, to start to create change in the world that can be continued for generations to come, because what I have come to learn in my school experience is that change does not come overnight, or even over the course of a few decades, once it starts, it never stops.
