Striving for a 4.0 by Eryn - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

Getting good grades come easy to some people, but to others, it can take a lot of work. I am one of those people that has to work hard for something to be accomplished. All through high school, I have strived to get good grades. Finally, during second semester of my junior year, I got a 4.0 grade point average (GPA). It’s the accomplishment that I am most proud off. I am proud of this accomplishment because I went through a lot of different fallbacks and hard work to get all A’s.
Hard work and fallbacks are almost always apart of someone’s success. To get a 4.0, I had to get an A in all six of my classes. To get an A, I had to get at least a ninety percent in the class. The six classes that I took my junior year included U.S. History, Biology, English, Algebra/Trigonometry, Financial Tech, and culinary arts. While taking all those classes, I was also playing basketball, which took away from the time I had to do homework. I got through this by managing my time. Algebra, was by far the most difficult class for me. I got a B in it during first semester. Every other class I took, I had an A in. After first semester, I was absolutely determined to get an A the next semester. This meant that I had to work so much harder. I started to go in on my own time and get help from Mrs. Williams, my math teacher. This helped to improve my knowledge in the class a lot. Before the final, I had an eighty nine percent. I had to do really good on the test to get an A. I did the whole semester packet and more. I turned in my notes the day of the test and got an A. I was so happy and proud of what I accomplished.
In the end, I worked hard and accomplished my goal of getting a 4.0. I did this by studying and not being afraid of getting the help that I needed to succeed. I’m very proud of what I did second semester of my junior year.
