As a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Biology, I have had my fair share of challenging academic experiences. One that stands out occurred during my freshman year, in my introductory biology course. It was a class that I had been excited about, given my passion for the subject and my desire to delve deeper into the complexities of life sciences. However, the reality of the course quickly proved to be more daunting than I had anticipated.
The challenge began with the sheer volume of material we were expected to learn and understand. Each week brought a new chapter, filled with intricate details about cellular processes, genetics, and ecosystems. I found myself spending countless hours in the library, trying to absorb as much information as possible. Despite my efforts, I struggled to keep up with the pace of the class. My first exam results were far from what I had hoped for, and I felt disheartened.
I realized that my usual study methods, which had served me well in high school, were not effective in this new environment. I needed to adapt and find a way to manage the workload while truly understanding the material. This was a pivotal moment for me, as it was the first time I had encountered such a significant academic hurdle.

These methods were incredibly helpful, as they allowed me to engage with the material in a more interactive way.
