College Major by Hera - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” The age old question that every child is asked from the moment they are able to talk. The adults want to hear a doctor or a lawyer, or some other high paying job as the response. When kids are younger, though, the answer is usually an astronaut or a princess, which the adults find cute or laugh and giggle at the idea of. However this question, at one point or another, has made people truly think about what they want to do with their lives after graduating high school. Rather this be about just being happy, or about the job that they wish to have. High schoolers, especially, deal with a great amount of stress as they have to figure out what college they want to attend and what they want to major in. However, when I get older, I would like to be a Sports Agent. In order to do this, when I go to college I plan to major in Sports Management.
Through majoring in Sports Management, I am able to combine my passions and personality traits to make a living and live a happy life. Currently, I play sports and go to school, while being able to keep good grades. In my future I would love to combine my love for sports with my love for discovering talent. I firmly believe that every player deserves a chance and opportunity to make their mark, and this major could help me accomplish this. Watching sports throughout my entire life, I have been able to analyze different sports and figure out what types of players work well in different sports. I am good at math and this could help me figure out how players' statistics play a role in their game. I have been surrounded by sports my entire life and I have always had a passion for it. Although to some people waking up every morning to go to travel to new places and traveling to find talent just to be on the phone all day seems like a waste of time, I would have a smile on my face every morning if that was my life.
I will always fight for my family, for my friends, and for what I want. I want to be a sports agent and for that reason I will work hard to get into a great college to major in sports management to help me achieve my dreams. I will keep working hard to have a successful career and a happy life.
