The Sky is the Limit by Jaxon - May 2025 Scholarship Essay
Given unlimited time and money, I would only require the time. My actual career goals do not vary from my goals given this hypothetical situation. What I have learned in school is that I am in love with Math and Science, and pursuing these subjects in depth is what I have been put here to do.
The beauty of science is that wealth does not dictate the ability to succeed. Galileo Galilei was a poor man; Albert Einstein lived a comfortable lifestyle; Isaac Newton was a rich man. Regardless of the size of their pockets, great minds have prevailed and made the world a better place solely due to their curiosities and dreams.
In my time, I will strive to become a researcher at NASA. Since I received my acceptance letter from The University of Chicago, this goal has never felt more achievable. The University of Chicago provides world class opportunities to its students, and if I was given enough time, I would hope to join the 101 Nobel Prize winners which have come out of the institution. It is unknown to me what project could be the catalyst for winning this award, but we shall find out in due time.
Put simply, I will use the passion that I have obtained from my time in school to change the world. As an astrophysics student, I will have no shortage of work to do. I believe that the current scientific climate is the best that we have ever seen. Never in our history have we been able to send a pop singer into outer space with no goal other than to have a joy ride. With this ability and the creative drive of the amazing scientists in the lead currently, I have no doubts that we will work together and send a human to Mars within my lifetime. I hope to be part of the team that is involved with this feat. If I had all the time and money in the world, not only would I work to pursue this mission, but all future missions. After Mars, the universe is our oyster. It would take hundreds of years to send a human to the nearest habitable planet. This, however, is no issue for somebody who can live forever. Given the conditions of this hypothetical, I would station myself out in the far reaches of the solar system and send data back to Earth, with the goal of relocating a colony.
If I were given the resources and time, I would not only change the world, but I would lift up every corner of the observable universe for the benefit of mankind.
