School has been my job for the majority of my life. Senior year has flown by, leaving many aspects of my educational career to reflect on. Classes, teachers, tests, homework have been on repeat for years. What has been the most influencing in this journey has been relationships. Guidance from mentors, teachers, coaches and family, as well as support from peers has all played a major role in impacting my path to reach my goals and have success in my path. Moving forward into the next stage of life I take these lessons and experiences and have a greater understanding of what is most important. The test wasn’t the most important. It was the lessons learned from experience that I will take with me moving forward. Creating a positive impact on the world using my experiences would lead me to do the same for the future by creating an after school youth center. Having a supportive environment where youth can have the same positive guidance and experiences that I have been privileged to have will have a beneficial impact on other individuals. Providing a safe environment for youth to go after school that will offer support, not just academically but offer genuine experiences will set these students up for success in the future. Having a program that will offer tutoring and homework help would only be one part. Different sports and activities for them to participate in being led by coaches and individuals offering mentorship will help them grow in many ways. Embracing these moments and experiences will develop the student as a whole creating positive experiences. This will empower students to grow as individuals and explore all their own abilities and likes growing into successful individuals making the world a better place.
