Technology has had a positive impact in many areas of our lives and classroom experience is no different. Today, both students and teachers have many technological tools at their fingertips they can take advantage of for a positive classroom experience. But before we look at the positive impact of technology on classroom experience, it is necessary to look at what we call classroom.

Technology has changed the definition of traditional classroom and now we students can be enrolled into online classrooms remotely accessing the learning materials using our laptops, communicating with other students located across the country or even out of country. For the purpose of this essay though, my focus will be traditional classroom experience.

The blackboards have been replaced with whiteboards, smart boards and projectors. The modern-day classrooms have completely eliminated the use of blackboards resulting in better visual comprehension. Smart boards enable communication and collaboration unanticipated in the past.

Educators are able to gamify learning content using learning management systems to achieve maximum level of engagement. Using sites such as the Khan Academy, we students are able to receive assistance from anywhere on our school work at any time. It is similar to having a personal tutor accept this tutor can be called upon at any time of the day or night. Such technology has enabled the teachers to act more as a guide allowing us students to learn at our own pace.

Access to educational materials at our fingertips using online library of videos, books, audio and images enables the us to manage our time efficiently giving us on demand access. Having access to online library provides us the ability to use search terms to narrow down the search to a specific subject easily giving more time to focus on the subject matter.

Technology also enables both parents and teachers to communicate easily. The use of online portals allows teachers to post grades, attendance, concerns regarding the student and enables the parents to access this information anytime so the parents are well informed at all times.

Technology use in classrooms has definitely resulted into a positive experience for me and my fellow students providing educational support in numerous ways and also making things easier for the teachers to create learning materials as well as ease in communication and collaboration.

Technology is a powerful tool that can support and transform education in many ways, from making it easier for teachers to create instructional materials to enabling new ways for us students to learn and work together.
