I want to make a difference by Kaitlyn - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

When Covid hit in 2020, I remember so many news reports about there being a nursing shortage, nurses being overworked, and not compensated very well. Nurses from all over the country were headed to areas that were hit hard by Covid. It was incredibly scary to see how many people were impacted by the pandemic.

Prior to Covid, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life or how I could make a positive impact in someone's life. Covid made me see that there was such a great need for nurses. This got me thinking, and I began looking into the possibilities of a nursing career becoming a reality. I want to be that person who is there for someone on the worst possible day of their life and provide them with some comfort. I know that if I were the patient or if someone in my family was, I would like to know that the person taking care of them is passionate about what they do.

I would be honored if I won the scholarship. It would be such a blessing to receive because it would open so many doors for me and help reduce the stress of worrying about how I would pay for college, allowing me to focus on my studies. I promise you that this scholarship will not be wasted on me. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
