What does education mean to Keaton Gonsalves? by Keaton - October 2022 Scholarship Essay

Education is a gargantuan staple in American culture. It is the very foundation in which American society is built. In America, education basically determines success. Furthering education also means further occupational opportunities. That does not mean that little to no education means no success, there are still fields in which people can thrive. But the fact is that, although not guaranteed, the more education that somebody has leads to more opportunity for that said person. A musician can be a musician without learning the basics to music, but a musician who takes the patience and time to learn the fundamentals of music will be more qualified than someone who doesn't have that knowledge.

To me, education is virtually everything. I aspire to be an engineer, specifically in the field of aerospace, simply because Wichita is the air capital of the world. I believe, in my case anyways, that the continuation of my education will lead to the establishment of a successful and fruitful career in engineering. For that, I must give thanks to the fundamentals of education, and to the teachers who have supported me thus far, and that will continue to support me. That is what education is to me. My source of livelihood. My source of success. My source of the future.
