My name is Khris Rodriguez, a high school senior passionate about learning and eager to study subjects like Business Administration or Medicine in college. One challenging academic experience that shaped me was during my sophomore year in chemistry. Science intrigued me, but as the semester went on, I struggled with complex concepts and equations, causing my grades to slip. It was a tough time, balancing extracurriculars and work while trying to keep up with my studies.

Realizing I needed help was the first step. I approached my chemistry teacher, who offered support and extra help after school. This guidance was crucial in helping me understand the material better. Additionally, I formed a study group with classmates, which became a valuable resource. We shared notes, tackled difficult topics together, and quizzed each other before exams. This collaboration taught me the importance of teamwork and communication.

Time management was another key aspect of overcoming this challenge. I started using a planner to organize my schedule, dedicating specific times to study chemistry. This routine helped me balance academics with other commitments more effectively.

As my grades improved, so did my confidence. I learned the importance of facing challenges head-on and seeking help when needed. These skills are now part of my approach to learning and will be vital as I transition to college.

Being a Hispanic man, I recognize the importance of diversity and representation in education. I aim to succeed academically and inspire others facing similar challenges. The experience taught me perseverance and effective time management, preparing me for future challenges in college. I am excited about the opportunity to further my education at schools like High Point University, UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, or UNC Charlotte. This scholarship would greatly support me in achieving my academic and career goals.
