During my during my senior year of college, I had to retake organic chemistry twice. The first time I took organic chemistry. I honestly was lost. I didn’t have a clearcut understanding of how the different bonding and the formulas worked. I had a very hard time engaging with the information I just couldn’t see the pattern of how the chemical reactions worked, especially on that level of organic chemistry and although I did the work, I didn’t put in that extra effort to really study to understand the material so as a result, I failed because I just didn’t get it. I just couldn’t see the pattern however, when I took the chemistry class again by one of the professors that a lot of students feared and a lot of conversation circulated about his controversial teaching style I had a better understanding of how the reactions worked. I went to his office hours, and it is teaching style. He broke down the information in a way that helped me understand. I did extra tutoring session so I can reinforce that knowledge that I learned in class and my tutor explained organic chemistry in a way that I could relate and by the time I got to the final, I was finally able to grasp and see the patterns that were in the chemical reactions so as a result, I was able to pass organic chemistry by the skid of my teeth really with a C which is a barely minimum passing grade, but I think divine Providence for allowing me to pass that’s why I was concerned about looking back at that situation with organic chemistry. It helped me reshape the way that I approach studying, especially when it came to the sciences and won’t help me understand the material better and what will help me master other subjects in school is to look for the patterns when you look for the patterns you’ll be able to see how the information interconnects with each other, regardless of what subject you’re studying so that is the time that I passed organic chemistry.
