Dear Pre-teen Logan by Logan - April 2021 Scholarship Essay
Being a twelve-year-old boy is not always easy. It's not any easier when you have parents that aren't getting along. I think back five years ago to that boy and what he thought of his world. The advice I would have given myself five years ago is to learn to use your voice.
As I have gotten older and have experienced life a little more, I've learned that staying quiet is not always the best route to take. I've learned that you can respectfully express your opinion and thoughts to people you are interacting with. A perfect example of this is with your mother. Mom means well but can be a bit much, at times. She wants you to be successful and not struggle, but you will experience struggles and overcome them. Learn to communicate with mom in a healthier way. Allow her to check in and make sure you are okay. You will experience a tough senior year of high school, but you will make it through.
Senior year in high school is supposed to be the most amazing year of high school. Sadly, your senior year will be during the pandemic. On top of that, you will be dealing with a tumultuous relationship with your father. Stay strong. Speak up. Get help if you feel you need it. Pre-teen Logan, you've got this!
