Aspirations for the Future by Madelyn - August 2025 Scholarship Essay
Stepping into something new is scary. I mean, being “the new kid” isn’t something that was foreign to me, but that didn’t make it any easier. It seemed like it was just yesterday that I was in kindergarten. My Mom had made such a fuss about my uniform that I didn’t really want to wear anyway. Fast forward to middle school. We were in quarantine for most of the time which was scary too. The world as I knew it was shut down and people were dying all around me. Again, the unknown. It’s hard to believe that this is my last year of High School. I remember the night before my Freshman year. I was nervous and excited at the same time…”nervre-cited.” I really can’t remember if I fell asleep or not. I spent hours thinking of how my first day would be, what I would wear and who would be in my classes.
As I get ready to finish High school my goals are to go out strong academically, athletically and socially. I plan to improve my 3.4 GPA up to at least a 3.9 or higher. I’m motivated to do this because I know that I have it in me to do it. My school has great tutors and counselors and I am going to use that to my advantage. This is also my last year playing volleyball. I plan to be the Captain again and potentially make an all-county team. I’m motivated to do this because I want to leave my impression in the school’s history. I have been playing volleyball since Elementary School and this may be my last year playing competitively. I’m going to make it count. Lastly, I’m going to increase my participation in my school club. I’ve been the Secretary of “Educators Rising” a club that specializes in learning about children's development and creating a safe environment for children to learn. For my last year I’m going to implement new creative ideas that will take the club forward. I’m motivated to do this because I want my name to live on in this club long after I have left it. My Mom and Dad talk to me about legacy. They told me that it’s about who’s coming behind you that matters.
I know that I can achieve my goals and have a good impact on my community. With the support of my family and friends I will strive for greater things as I prepare for the next chapter in my life. Although I am nervous to be a senior. I’m excited to see the new opportunities and the doors that will be opened.
