personal motivation by MaKayla - October 2022 Scholarship Essay
There are many different aspects of an education and each one has its own value. The one aspect of education that is not talked about very often but is one of the most important aspects is personal motivation. When I was younger, as most kids did, I viewed my education in a very bored and negative perspective. I would dread going to school and often tried to convince my mother to let me stay home, I would count down the days until summer vacation would come around again. Even so, I still tried to earn decent grades in school, this was due to my parents pushing me and helping me do my homework and turn in my assignments. This was the continuing experience I would go through until I got to high school. Now that I am a senior, I find so much more value in my education and I have learned how to keep myself motivated without my parents’ incentive. I am very glad that I put forth that effort in the beginning, because the decision to earn good grades has helped me tremendously with being able to further my education much easier that I could have if I had not put in that effort.
When I got to high school and was able to really see how my education was going to affect my life, I was able to find the right path for me that made going to school much more enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, there were still times that I still wanted to stay home. Yet, I went to school because I knew how my decisions would affect the outcome of my life. I want to go to college and find my place in the medical field, I have already taken steps to get to my desired destination. One, by becoming a CAN in my Junior year and now two, by enrolling into Davis Technical College to become a phlebotomist. I want to have a successful life that allows for me to be able to do the things that I love and find fascinating that also allows me to provide a good future for myself and future family. I have learned how to personally motivate myself without the assistance of others and I value my education because without it, I will not be able to reach the goals that I have placed before myself.
