Events leading to a Nutritionist by Myrna - February 2024 Scholarship Essay

When I was young, I always wanted to help people in some shape or form. Be it by being a police officer or nurse, helping people was my calling since the beginning.
When I was in 5th grade, I was bullied a lot because of my weight. I was a chubby little girl that just wanted to have fun with friends. When I was thinking of a solution, the only solution I came up with was losing weight. I restricted myself from eating any high calorie food and excersised. In the beginning, I lost weight healthily but I didn't think it was enough. I restricted myself even more to the point where I would only eat 400 calories per day. I was so malnourished that my heart was barely pumping any blood and I was slowly dying. I was soon hospitalized and gained weight in a healthy manner.
After learning the importance of nutrition and how crucial it could be to an individual, I soon developed an interest to it and would research about it on my spare time. I than realized there was a career I could do with this interest of mine. I became determined to help people on their nutritional goals and better their health to life long, balanced lives.
