I would say that I have been lucky that all my teachers in some way positively impacted my education journey. The teacher that I’ll be talking about is my elementary school teacher Mrs. Curtis. If I had to describe Mrs. Curtis I would say she was like the first ray of sun after a rainstorm. Mrs.Curtis was a teacher who to this day I think about when I see how far I’ve gotten in my path to achieving a college education. She was the teacher who didn’t give up on me when I tried to rebel against learning. She stuck to my side, laughed and gave me the attention that I needed. I was a stubborn girl. Who found school boring but with her attention and affection I started to try my best. I didn’t get the best grades in elementary school but after I left I always tried my best for her and myself. I found that her reassuring words continued to help me get past difficult classes in high school. When feeling at my lowest in the face of my parents separation I remembered her saying “ Keep going, never stop. I know you are a smart girl. You can do everything " These words have stuck to me like glue. I would have hoped that I had keep contact with Mrs. Curtis to tell her the impact that she had on my life and educational journey. I hope to continue to be blessed with the luck that I have been given to have such amazing teachers in my life.
