A 2032 Education by Oreoluwa - July 2022 Scholarship Essay
Education has been beneficial to the world from the beginning of time. The luxury of having the technology we use in our everyday lives down to the food that we enjoy today has been a result of this sacred practice. We can be educated by having life experiences through travel, trying new cuisine and meeting new people. Because education can be so broad, institutional education has not been able to cater to the needs of individual students. Over the next ten years, I would like to see a variety of changes in education.
The learning environment that a student is in can have a great influence on their success. In education today, students are confined to one room for several hours a day. Or sometimes if older, they may have block periods but still, go to similar rooms to learn throughout the day. For the future of education, I hope to see more options with learning spaces for students. I don't think that learning can only occur inside the classroom. Options like virtual learning or sometimes sitting outside with nature to learn will allow for a change of environment.
In education, every subject or lesson cannot be taught the same to each student. Resources for students should be tailored to their individual abilities and interests. In the future, I feel there should be an individual analysis of each student's learning ability. For example, some students are visual learners, auditory learners, verbal learners, etc. This means that one method of teaching cannot possibly work for all students. Teachers should be able to adapt to these differences to set students up for maximum success.
In conclusion, education has brought us very far as a society but still has a very long way to go. I feel that in ten years, the future of education will include a variety of learning environments and spaces for students and more individualized learning techniques.
