Volleyball is a game that allows me to be more sociable and more outspoken, both on and off the court. I have learned to be more confident. I have acquired the skills that volleyball requires in a matter of years. “Practice makes perfect,” could not be a more true statement in the this sport. From one who has never touched a volleyball being named “Best Offensive Player,” for 2015 was a great accomplishment for me. Advancing to the varsity team for the 2016 league, my team and I were determined to make history.
Beginning our team’s, CIF Los Angeles section, division ii playoffs, I knew it was just going to get tougher. Determined to win we were able to achieve the honor and title of division ii volleyball city champions. I feel proud for myself and for my teammates as well. We worked hard for our achievements. Academically, I improved by being more outspoken. I was shy and afraid to ask questions whenever I found something challenging in a course. This resulted in failed test scores and classes. Learning from my mistakes and I learned to find my voice and strive for better. Overcoming my bashfulness resulted in becoming a better person. I learned to confront my endeavors, not run from them and hide like a hermit crab.
