Creating a Plan That Works by Quetzali - April 2019 Scholarship Essay

School can oftentimes be challenging, there’s no doubt about it. The way each student in there school is different from the person sitting next to then at their table group. Over the past four years in high school, I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs and way too many challenges. The biggest struggle that I’ve had to deal with was during my sophomore year. It was just the internal assessment that I had to do. As an IB student I find that to be the most challenging. To me it wasn’t just one Internal Assessment that I had to do within that one semester. I had to do two for my two different classes that required it.
I struggled the most during the main setup and knowing when I had the right amount information without feeling as if I had left way to much out. It was a struggle just to learn when it was time to draw the line for knowing when it was a good time to say enough is enough and to just say I’m done. Not only to me was it the biggest set back that I’ve dealt with my sophomore year, at the end of it all I just felt defeated. To me it wasn’t the best way to begin the second semester of my sophomore year. I knew that I wouldn’t feel as good about the grade because after all I did struggle. Although my grade took a major hit I was able to learn not only how to improve my over grade within the class but to create a set schedule to follow and know what needs to get done it one day.
I wasn’t always the organized student that I now am, it took time for me to create a well organized schedule which allowed me to know how much work needed to get done in just that day. It’s something that I’ve stuck to ever since sophomore year and has allowed me to improve not only my grades but the way that I have been able to get the major class assignments done in a timely manner without feeling that I have over booked myself with work to do that day when at home after both school and dance.
After what I learned back in my sophomore year I was able to create a working plan that I’ve been able to stick to and improve over the years and I know that I will be able to apply this type of scheduling into my college schedule next year.
