Lacking Motivation by taryn - December 2024 Scholarship Essay

A challenging academic experience i’ve had to face, was keeping my motivation. Such as being on top with my assignments, handing in work, studying for tests and quizzes, and simply just trying to make it to class. In high school, especially my senior year, I would attend school 2 or 3 out of 5 days of the week, due to mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. I had great teachers, I wasn’t bullied, nothing bad was happening to me, but I disliked going to school, due to the environment, the people I faced. It was 8 in the morning, and for me it was too loud, bright, too many distractions around me in that early hour. For college, it’s been a tough road, I didn’t know what I wanted to study and major in at first, I decided to go with “pre-allied health”, because I liked the description of the major, which does fit for what I want to do in the future, I’d like to enter forensic chemistry with it. Besides the lack of motivation to do school work, I do struggle financially, and I believe that receiving this scholarship, and due to the warmer weather, I will be much more motivated and happy, and ready to succeed.
