I will not give up by Tierra - November 2018 Scholarship Essay

My senior quote for the year book would be “Never give up. For the greatest things have yet to come”. I say this because throughout my high school life I have had a series of crushes and not one of them liked me back. My freshman year was a boy named Drew. Drew was a senior, and he was kind, funny, and creative. Drew knew I had feelings for him. I think the whole class knew that I had a really big crush on him. Drew would always make the class laugh with his joke and creativeness. Onetime he wanted me to sit at a table with him and his friends but there were no chairs. So instead of moving a chair to his table he scooted over in his chair and patted the space next to him. Me being the love-struck child I was, I shared the seat with him. My crush continued until he graduated that year. Sophomore year I had my eyes set on two guys. Both seniors. The firsts guy's name was Clayton. Clayton was a fun guy who liked to party and play football. We got to know each other over snapchat and at pregame meal. My cousin who was good friends with Clayton at the time tried to set me up with him. But being the shy girl I am I could never tell him that I really liked him. But I'm sure he knew I did. I used to visit his class room often and talk to his teacher just so I could be in the same room as him. One time while he was at lunch, I left popcorn at his desk for him to enjoy when he came back. His teacher told me that he didn’t think twice about who left it or the note I had written on the napkin. Second semester was a guy named Zach. Zach loved hunting and buying new tires for his truck. He was a great friend and I still talk to him today. the first time I meet Zach he had caught me staring at him. After that he caught on pretty quickly that liked him and he started to tease me. Whenever we would go to assembly's we would sit next to each other just to laugh and make jokes the whole time. My sixteenth birthday was one to remember. Before class we meet at his truck and went to eat pizza. And ill never forget the time he scared me so bad I cried. He hugged me several times after that trying to get me to stop crying. I cried even harder to get more hugs. Also this onetime he said that he was going to skip class and I texted him back saying “Please come. For me?” and sure enough, 20 mins late here he comes strolling in. And ill never forget the time we went across the hall and played halo and he showed no mercy. The great times he showed me were some that I'll cherish forever. And when he graduated, I cried because I thought I would never see him again. My junior year was filled with just as much heartbreak as the previous ones. This time it was a boy named Chase. Chase was very shy and so was I dude to all the rejections I has received thus far. Things with chase didn’t go very far. To put it in simple ways I sent him a message. He read it and didn’t reply. So this basically kept going on until one of my friends talked to him and asked why he didn’t respond. He said he didn’t know it was me and that I should text him again. And so, I shoot my shot once more and missed terribly. He once again read my message and never responded. At this point I had given up on finding love in high school. Until my senior year. There's this guy named Ben. He’s smart. He’s funny. He's kind. He's caring. I really enjoy talking to him. Whenever I get a snapchat or a text from him I get excited. But soon I learned that one of my friends asked for his number and he told her that he wasn't looking for a relationship which I understand. But I will not give up, because good things come to those who wait. I will not give up because I really like him and I am hoping he likes me back. I will not give up because I am not a quitter. I will not give up because the greatest things have yet to come.
