In 50 Years, Academic Success: "Practice makes Perfect!" by Tiffany - May 2020 Scholarship Essay

Parents and teachers widely contribute their time and effort to provide students academic support. Promoting education sets a purpose for future students to reach their fullest potential. Without learning essential skills, it limits their abilities to be motivated, solve problems, and cognitively think outside the box. A person’s characteristic traits do not build itself without having to go through challenges. A student’s experiences to be independent, creative, resourceful, and intinuative advocates positive prospects of success. In 50 years, homework will remain a crucial teaching method for students to engage, be persistent and recollect their thoughts in learning in class subjects and extracurricular activities. These skills contribute to students' growth factors in physical and mental health. I think homework has its advantages and disadvantages. It involves managing stress, utilizing resources, promoting well informed but enjoyable learning activities, becoming independent and overcoming obstacles. With such possibilities of loading excessive homework upon a student can be stressful but it can be managed with support programs so assignments can be balanced efficiently.

Education does not have to be stressful
Homework improves student academic performances but too much homework causes physical and health problems. Its symptoms involve sleep deprivation, headaches, exhaustion, weight loss, and stomach problems. With the guidance from the school's social worker, their professionalism can provide families and assistance to cope with emotional and mental issues. They want to provide the best health care and social services to minimize stress and enhance their well being. Through these support, improvements are made to reduce their stress.
Studying advocates good habits
Homework reinforces good study habits and life skills although its disadvantages for low-income students who could provide for themselves. Not being able to afford school supplies such as textbooks and other resources should not stop them from prioritizing education. School donations will help students get access to textbooks, paper, pencils and other necessities to prepare their successful learning.

Engaging in fun Academic Learning
Homework helps students retain their memory but falling behind troubles their learning experiences. It affects their development level to advance but programs can provide fun games such as memory matches, and flashcards to help them learn better. Students who felt obligated to work on homework over developing their hobbies, talents, or skills, are not an efficient way to build their passion. Developing an interest builds their persona and changes their perspective of the world. Personality is opened up to creativity, open minded, and other possibilities they can achieve.

Become Independent
Parents have the opportunity to actively engage in assisting their student’s learning by making sure they are moving in the right direction. Students can’t get too attached to their parent’s assistance because it prevents them from being independent. Setting boundaries can balance between taking the initiative and getting assistance to complete tasks. But teaching different strategies and methods are taken into consideration to improve student’s weaknesses. Teachers may prioritize their students to submit homework on a due date but it is for them to be persistent in practicing. There are no excuses for parents to complete their homework.

Overcoming Obstacles build Character
Practice makes perfect but too much resilience could lead to unfavorable outcomes. Being overly persistent with completing over the average amount of homework are unattainable goals. The quality of homework matters more than quantity. Students build characteristic traits to be motivated and determined. Prodigy student with impeccable capability to move at a faster rate in learning is a gift but it does not limit other students who don't have these abilities. Lowering their standards is not going to do them any good because it leads to failure. They can overcome these obstacles by practicing. Stumbling upon a question interferes with their ability to be motivated but setting achievable goals brings out their best intentions.

Overall, homework is beneficial in 50 years because studying is a good habit to obtain, leading students to become independent, and it builds their character. Quality assignments encourage students that practice makes perfect!
