The best advice by Tyler - March 2019 Scholarship Essay
If I were giving a tour of my high school and could only give the kids one piece of advice, it would be to not be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I had a great first two years in school but I started to struggle my junior year. I was too proud to ask my teachers for help. I never went to the tutoring lab after school. I never even asked my mom if she could help me. As a result, my grades suffered and I really struggled. What should have been a great senior year turned into a constant struggle to get grades even remotely good enough to get into college.
Not that I am in college, I have had to get tutors. It was very hard for me to sign up for help but, once I did, I wish I had done it sooner. They explain everything in a way I understand and I don't feel judged at all.
Don't be too proud to ask for help and keep asking until you find someone who is the perfect fit for you. Sometimes it will be other students, sometimes it's your professor, sometimes it's a completely different professor. The right help is out there. You just have to keep looking.
