The Ethical use of Unlimited Funds for the Betterment of Society by Tyler - May 2025 Scholarship Essay

If you were granted with a unlimited amount of money, and word were to get out, you would be the most well known person in the world. This would risk your own safety and the safety of those around you for the greed that others may have. Additionally, other precautions must be taken in order to ensure that unlimited money does not disrupt the natural flow of the world economy. Finally, the use of unlimited funds would be dependent on your own morals, and beliefs.
The safety of yourself and others when you have unlimited money is the number one priority and concern. The first step to ensure your safety, and others, would be to not show off, and not create a flashy life style that people imagine. After you set your own limits, which is something that anyone would do granted with unlimited money, you must ensure that any donations, sponsorships, scholarships, etc that you make must be anonymous. Unfortunately, your safety cannot be guaranteed if you are publicly identified. Finally, you would have to prevent the fact that you indeed have unlimited money from those close to you, as you cannot control what they say to others, or how others may use you for your money. Hiring a personal security detail might be something to consider, and even keeping this secret away from the people closest to you. Once your safety is secured, deciding how to use your money ethically is the second course of action.
While it would be a dream to be able to give everyone what you believe they need, providing too many handouts can ruin the lives of others. The economy works by having a set amount of money that is in circulation. The government simply does not print off money as they decide. If you were to distribute too much money into the economy, money would lose meaning, and the value of the dollar would greatly decrease, causing prices to increase at immense rates. This is an example of why some countries have bills whose numerical value reaches to the hundred-thousands. Another dream that is unfortunately out of reach, would be for everyone to be in an equal financial state. If everyone were equal to each other, you'd approach a state where there is very little differentiation between individuals, removing all sense of uniqueness and individuality that makes you different from everyone else. However, there is safe alternatives to still make positive societal impacts on the world with your unlimited cash.
While significant consideration would have to go into how much donations can reasonably be made before severe damages are caused, there are still ways to benefit others. One major contribution that could be considered a necessary action for someone who has unlimited funds would be to donate anonymously to hospitals. As previously mentioned, anonymous donations would ensure your safety and the safety of others. Donations to hospitals would provide free treatment to those who cannot afford expensive healthcare treatments that are minimally, or not at all covered by insurance. For example, experimental medical treatments that are still being developed for rare conditions cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, but are typically not covered by insurance, putting a massive financial burden onto a family. Furthermore, sponsoring more scholarships will reduce advanced education costs for families, removing the education gap between different classes of income. While it may be argued that everything should be free, this would be detrimental to the economy, and require an entire rework of the entire system of the world. The addition of greater financial assistance for healthcare and education would remove the gap between classes of income where some families make too much money to afford financial aid, but not enough to cover a college tuition, or take care of costly medical treatments.
Overall, having unlimited money would bring on considerable considerations for your own safety, and of those around you. Additionally, you would also have to determine what is responsible to do with this unlimited money, and what is reasonable without over stepping a moral and ethical boundary that will hurt others in an effort to help. If someone were to receive unlimited money, it would be best for them to understand these reasonings and ideas that they must consider in order for the well-being of everyone in the world.
