Describe a school accomplishment you're most proud of and why by Vedant - December 2016 Scholarship Essay
Hello ! My name is Vedant Chopra and I'am senior at Bellaire High school, Houston.
When I look at my school accomplishment I'am happy of maintaining my academia and values, along with keeping up with my extracurricular and volunteer opportunities . I 'am straight A student , top 7% of my class and GPA of 4.77 . Though I moved countries 4 times and I spent my childhood in 13 different homes and 9 different schools.
But ONE accomplishment which changed they way I look at life and made me feel proud was my full paid-for (including airfare) acceptance to the 2015 Student Climate & Conservation Congress (Sc3) at Washington DC. As one of approximately 125 student leaders selected from across the United States and beyond to represent school and state, hosted by the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) of the U.S. Department of the Interior, the nation’s premier conservation training facility. They gave me the skills, knowledge and tools to address climate change and natural resource conservation challenges and better serve my school and community. My experience at Sc3 left me feeling educated, engaged, inspired, and determined. Additionally, attending this Congress helped me to be sensitive to my surroundings and to develop the leadership skills necessary to tackle environmental issues.
To put my acquired knowledge to use I made a presentation on Gardening & Pollinators. Now I do my best to share it with kids during my volunteering at church , library or schools. To my amazement kids get so involved and excited. They ask questions sometimes funny , bring their favorite plant for show and tell , plant flowers at their home or school or church and then brag about it. I am sure this will impact their life in a very positive way learning to care for environment and eventually to care for something they take responsibility for when they grow up.
I wish I can devote more time to the cause, but at present my college stuff takes my time. But I made a promise to myself that I will contribute to the cause at my slightest opportunity all my life .
Also, with a vision like mine I would see a person who had so much support from people that who really cared , my Family.
