my challenge. by briana - December 2024 Scholarship Essay

Attending a dull enrollment program for four years has brought a challenge that the younger me could not imagine for myself. Having to balance normal high school and college classes while missing out on a typical teenage life. Missing out on sports games because the school I attend is strictly academic based. Having to spend hours studying and doing assignments instead of enjoying my high school life is what is challenging. Having my friends enjoy their years and experience the high school life makes me wonder if I made the right choice. Having to take these classes is good for my future but often has me wonder if it is good for my present. For my future, these classes will be worth it because I have the college experience and preparation skills for when I continue higher education which normal teens don't typically have. Besides just doing school work I also have to do activities like being a teacher assistant, which helps me advise freshmen about their upcoming years so that they can have a better experience and help those after them. I also get volunteer hours by doing this so I help both myself and the students I TA for. This experience also helps me learn new skills to continue when I go to university such as how to manage time and public speaking. These skills will help with my career path as a teacher. Overall as hard as this challenge is I enjoy my time at this school since it prepares me for college and the real world.
